Ellesmere Port body 'may be missing Frenchman'

Remains found by police searching a house in Ellesmere Port are believed to be those of a missing Frenchman.

Cheshire Police went to the house on Hylton Court on Tuesday after receiving information about the disappearance of Christophe Borgye, 35.

A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and sectioned under the Mental Health Act earlier.

A 34-year-old man was arrested on the same charge in Scotland and has been brought to Cheshire for questioning.

The remains of the body were found in an outbuilding at the house and tests are underway to confirm their identity.

Mr Borgye was living in the Ellesmere Port area at the time of his disappearance in May 2009 and was believed to have been an air steward for Ryanair at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, a police spokeswoman said.

She said that following enquiries in 2009, police had been led to believe he was travelling abroad.

His family in France have been contacted and made aware of the investigation and discovery, she added.

Det Ch Insp Simon Price said: "I want to reassure the public this is a contained incident. We have arrested two men and have a team of officers working on the case.

"Formal identification is going to take some time but based on the information we have now we believe the victim is Christophe who was known to the man in custody."
