An 18-year-old student, who had been to a Liverpool nightclub's Halloween party, has been found dead at a city university property.

The woman's body was found on Saturday at a Liverpool Hope University property on Taggart Avenue in Childwall.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said the woman had been to the Nation nightclub on Friday and her death was being treated as unexplained.

A post-mortem examination to establish how she died is due to take place.

The spokeswoman said it was "not helpful to speculate" about the cause of her death.

The Halloween party at Nation was held by the club's regular student night Medication.

In a statement, the university said it was "currently doing all that we can to support fellow students at this difficult time".

"All we know is that the student died after a night in the city centre on Friday and that she had been in a nightclub."

Police have asked anyone who may have seen the woman at the nightclub to get in touch.
