Election 2015: Labour takes Cheshire West and Chester after recount

Votes have been counted at Chester's Northgate Arena

Labour have taken control of Cheshire West and Chester Council from the Conservatives after a recount in the final ward.

The Conservatives and Labour were level on 36 seats while a recount was held in Chester's two-seat Newton ward.

Meanwhile Labour have retained control of Warrington Borough Council with 42 seats.

Cheshire East remains a Conservative majority, with the party gaining a further two seats.
