Norfolk ex-youth leader Henry Day charged with sex assaults

A former youth leader honoured with an MBE for his work with children been charged with a series of sex assaults dating up to 46 years ago.

Henry Day, 76, of North Walsham, is accused of carrying out the attacks against three boys, all aged under 16 at the time, between 1969 and 1986.

He ran seaside summer camps at the Young Citizens Guild in Hemsby from 1973 to 1995.

He is due before Norwich magistrates on Friday on 13 counts of sexual assault.

The guild was originally set up by Day in Dagenham, east London, in the 1950s.

He received an MBE in 2004 for his work with children.
