The police watchdog is investigating officers' recent contact with a woman whose death is being treated as murder.

The body of Tara Kershaw, 33, was discovered at her home in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, on 20 January.

Adam Barnard, 40, of the same Princes Road address, has been charged with murder.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said its probe began on 22 January after a mandatory referral from Norfolk Police.

"Our investigation is looking at the previous police contact, including the actions and decision making of the officers involved," it added.

Police said they were called to a property after being told that the body of a woman was inside.

A post-mortem examination found Ms Kershaw suffered compression injuries to her neck.

In a statement released via police last month, Ms Kershaw's family said they had lost a "beloved sister".
