The owner of the Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire has renewed its search for investors to develop the 760-acre area around the track.

The British Racing Drivers' Club (BRDC) wants to build a business park, technology park, an education campus and three hotels.

The company initially signed an exclusivity agreement with a potential investor who has not been named.

But the time period has expired with no agreements made.

The BRDC said it had broadened its search for investors while still having talks with the current group.

Stuart Rolt, chairman of the BRDC, said: "The commercial potential of Silverstone and the estate is significant and we are seeking external investment, from third parties who share our vision, to help us realise that potential more quickly."

There are also visitor facilities planned such as a welcome centre and a museum of motor sport. It is claimed the project could create up to 8,000 jobs.

The plans are part of a long-term scheme which was launched in 2009.

In August 2011, the BRDC submitted plans to South Northants and Aylesbury Vale District Councils which have been agreed in principle, subject to a few minor alterations.
