A sinkhole-type void has opened up in a road in Northampton.
Police were alerted to the 8ft (2.4m) wide hole in Earl Street, just off the Upper Mounts near the Charles Bradlaugh pub, at about 14:00 BST.
It is understood to have appeared just after a car drove over that section of the road.
Police officers closed the road to traffic. A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said Anglian Water were investigating its cause.
