Customers of a mobile network operator have been without a signal for several days.

EE engineers have deduced that the problem lies with a faulty fibre cable, which they are in the process of replacing. It has affected residents in West Oxfordshire.

The company has apologised to customers for the inconvenience.

Local councillor Thomas Ashby said he had been on the phone to the company for a "painfully long time".

He posted about the issue on his official Facebook page, prompting one resident to say they were "so fed up" and that they felt like a "prisoner" in their own home.

One resident described it as a "nightmare", and another as a "big problem... if something happen to my daughter or family, I won't know".

Some have reported receiving free credit from EE after complaining about the issue.

The BBC understands that the company worked for four days to identify the problem.

EE apologised "for any inconvenience that this may have caused as we worked hard to resolve the issue as quickly as possible".
