A man has died in a three-vehicle crash involving two lorries on an Oxfordshire dual carriageway.

Thames Valley Police offices were called to the collision between two heavy goods vehicles and a red Toyota Yaris on the A420, near Faringdon, at about 00:50 GMT on Tuesday.

The Toyota driver, a man in his 40s, died of his injuries at the scene.

The two lorry drivers were taken to hospital, but their injuries are not believed to be serious.

One of the lorries was involved in an initial collision, then jack-knifed and crashed into a stationary lorry, police said.

Sgt Tony Jenkins appealed to anyone driving in the area at the time of the collision to get in touch with the police.

"If you have dash-cam in your vehicles, I would ask you to please check this and contact us," he said.

The A420 remains closed in both directions due to emergency resurfacing work.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area.

The force said it was not expected to re-open until about 22:00 GMT.
