Ploughing season blessing service in Shropshire
- Published
A traditional ploughing service has taken place at an agricultural college in Shropshire.
The service at Harper Adams University College near Newport has medieval origins when decorated ploughs were brought into the church to be blessed.
Edgmond parish church reintroduced the tradition in 2003 to mark the start of the UK ploughing season in January.
The congregation was invited to witness a plough and tractor blessing in the soil hall after the service.
