Shropshire firefighters at third blaze in three days

Fire crews in Shropshire have been tackling a fire at a farm, in the third blaze in the county in as many days.

About 50 firefighters were sent to the farm at Kinnersley, by Telford, in the early hours. The cause is not known.

A similar number dealt with a large fire at a heating systems company in Shrewsbury on Friday and another farm fire near Bridgnorth on Saturday.

Andy Johnson, from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, said many firefighters have attended more than one incident.

In the latest fire, crews from seven different stations were called to a farm in Kinnersley at about 0230 BST where two floors of the farm were alight.

Earlier fires

Mr Johnson said the wind assisted the fire but the occupants managed to get out to safety.

"The fire has already progressed because of the wind so the upper floor of the three-storey property and the roof were already ablaze by the time we got there."

On Friday, the roof of Mullins heating systems on London Road in Shrewsbury was destroyed by a fire which started at about 1400 BST.

Staff said they hope to be operating out of new premises on Monday.

On Saturday, residents in Kings Nordley near Bridgnorth were advised to stay indoors over the possibility of toxic fumes from the fire on an industrial unit on a farm.

Part of the nearby Kidderminster Road was also closed for a time.
