Plans to transform a historical former prison into flats and student accommodation have been submitted.

The Dana prison in Shrewsbury, which dates from the 19th Century, closed in 2013.

It was one of a number of jails to close in a bid to save £63m. The Grade II listed building was sold in June 2014.

The plans, which also include provision for a gym and restaurant, have been submitted to Shropshire Council.
