A police officer is to go on trial charged with the rape of a 13-year-old girl.

Cheshire constable Ian Naude, of Shropshire Street in Market Drayton, admitted encouraging the teenager to send him naked photos of herself.

The 29-year-old also pleaded guilty to sending her naked pictures of himself when he appeared at Chester Crown Court.

He denied rape and two sexual assault charges and will reappear on 30 April.

The rape charge relates to an incident reported on 3 November in Crewe.

Mr Naude was served a suspension notice by Cheshire Constabulary after being charged on 5 November.

The force has also referred the matter to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
