Amigo ended up being stuck after his rear legs fell into a disused storm drain

Firefighters and animal rescues teams were scrambled after a donkey fell down a hole in his field.

Amigo became submerged in mud when his rear legs fell into an old storm drain that was covered with leaves, Shropshire Fire and Rescue said.

With the help of a vet and a large line Amigo was finally freed, after being sedated so as not to injure himself.

It happened in Longslow, Market Drayton at about 10:22 BST.

Firefighters used straps and lines to help get the donkey out of the pit.

"Once free of the drain, he was able to stand, and the vet checked him over.

"Thankfully, he was none the worse for his ordeal, and we're sure he was happy to be free again," the fire service said.
