Taunton Deane Borough Council plans £1.1m savings

  • Published

Taunton Deane Borough Council is looking at cutting £1.1m from next year's budget.

The council said the savings, which follow the government's Spending Review, would affect tourism, conservation and tree maintenance.

It said it might also cut the concessionary taxi voucher scheme for vulnerable people and one police community support officer post.

The authority said it expected to lose as much as 40% of its funding by 2015.

A council spokesman said it would be "extremely challenging" to deal with the cuts.

Councillors are waiting for their final funding settlement from the government before deciding on the cuts package.
