Police catch more than 700 speeding motorists in Frome

More than 700 motorists have been caught speeding in Frome in the last six months, according to Avon and Somerset Police.

Between May and October the community safety camera registered 749 detections in six different locations throughout the town.

The camera was introduced after people in Frome told the police that speeding vehicles was an issue.

Sgt Sarah Dinnis said the force was determined to tackle speeding.

She added: "The safety camera has been introduced alongside existing stop checks by traffic officers and speed checks by local Community Speed Watch volunteers.

"I believe this activity, as well as awareness-raising at events and on dedicated days of action, will help reduce speeding in the area."
