Avon and Somerset PCC shares out £2.4m community fund

A £2.4m fund has been shared out among charities and organisations by the Avon and Somerset police commissioner (PCC).
Over half of the grant, £1.75m, will go to district-wide projects, such as drugs and alcohol intervention for people in custody.
PCC Sue Mountstevens said contracts had been issued "equitably" across the force area.
Other projects being supported include tackling racism, domestic violence and female genital mutilation (FGM).
The fund will run for one year and has fallen by 12% compared to the previous year as Home Office funding was reduced.
Out of the fund, £650,000 was shared out among community safety partnerships across the district covering Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.
