The former Bridgwater Community Hospital closed in 2014
A deal has been completed by the NHS to sell the former Bridgwater Hospital site to a local hotel developer.
NHS Property Services said the site had been bought for £1.6m and the money would provide vital funds for the local health service.
The building has been closed since 2014 and was replaced in a project costing £33m.
The new community hospital in Bower Lane opened in April 2014 with 30 inpatient beds and a maternity unit.
The former site, now owned by businessman Kevin Newton, has planning permission for a hotel, gym, swimming pool, day nursery and three homes.

About £33m has been spent on the new hospital on the outskirts of Bridgwater
