Sheffield Arundel Gate street stabbing leads to two arrests

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was stabbed in a Sheffield street.
Officers were called to Arundel Gate in the city centre by paramedics at 02:30 GMT on Thursday, South Yorkshire Police said.
The force said that a man in his 20s was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
The arrested men, aged 36 and 46, from Rotherham and Sheffield respectively, remain in custody.
Det Ch Insp Eleanor Welsh said: "This was an act of violence on a young man who is in a serious condition in hospital, leaving his family unimaginably worried."
The officer said they were "keeping an open mind as to the motive" and appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
Arundel Gate was closed in both directions from Furnival Gate to Commercial Street but has since reopened.
Elsewhere in Sheffield, a police officer was injured after being hit by a car following a robbery.
Police were called to to a report of man with a firearm on Penistone Road, in Sheffield at 21:45 GMT on Wednesday.
A special constable was hurt in a collision with a suspected stolen car. his injuries are not thought to be serious, South Yorkshire Police said.
Supt Benn Kemp said the two incidents were "not believed to be linked at this stage" and roads would remain closed while investigations were carried out.
He added: "We're aware of the traffic disruption ongoing in the city which will no doubt have caused some issues this morning and I thank those who may have been affected for their patience whilst we support the victims, our own Special Constable, and find those responsible."
