Brewood man's relief at PTSD diagnosis after 30 years

A man who had post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) for 30 years has spoken of the "sense of relief" he felt when he was given his diagnosis.

Mark Herbert, from Brewood in Staffordshire, spent seven years in the army.

He said he used to drink excessively "trying to block things out" and attempted to take his life twice.

Research by the Combat Stress charity has found a third of people do not understand PTSD.

It is urging members of the public to run or walk 10 miles this month to raise money for life-changing mental health treatment for veterans.
