A teenage boy has been arrested following the deaths of 14 lambs after a car was driven into a field.

The incident took place at a farm in Bramley, near Guildford, overnight between 17 and 18 January, Surrey Police said.

The 15-year-old from Redhill was arrested on suspicion of two counts of criminal damage.

He has since been released on bail, pending further investigation, a police spokesperson said.

Police said a vehicle was believed to have been driven on to the property, damaging a gate in the process, and then used to run over the lambs.

Nick Hutley, who owned the lambs at Gate Street Farm, previously described the incident as "mindless" and "simply crazy".

A total of 12 lambs were found dead in the field, with another two later put down due to their injuries, Mr Hutley said.

The lambs were less than a year old and kept in a field of 50 sheep.

Sgt Phil Bayman said the incident was "extremely unusual" and caused "considerable distress" to the owner of the farm and the wider community.

Police are asking for witnesses or anyone with information, particularly if they have seen a damaged vehicle, to come forward.
