£80m support package for Teesside steelworkers

The Business Secretary Sajid Javid has announced an £80m support package for the thousands of staff hit by the shutdown of the SSI steelworks.

As he in Redcar it was confirmed that the Thai company which owns SSI was going into liquidation.

Announcing the support package, Mr Javid said the government was determined to ensure "the steelworkers were not left behind".
