Sycamore Gap: Pupils recite poem in memory of Hadrian's Wall tree

Pupils were moved to tears upon hearing about the felling of the Sycamore Gap tree last month.

As part of their reading lessons at Cleves Cross Primary and Nursery School in Ferryhill, County Durham, a poem called In Memory of the Sycamore Gap Tree was read aloud to the class to mark the anniversary.

"When we first heard the poem, it was really emotional to us. At the end of it, three of us started crying," said six-year-old Jack.

The poem was written by Jamie-Rose Miller, who was inspired to pen it after hearing news of the tree's fate.
