Hartlepool murder accused Ahmed Ali Alid charged with more offences

A man accused of murdering a 70-year-old in Hartlepool has been charged with two further offences.
Ahmed Ali Alid has been charged with two counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker over his alleged conduct during a police interview.
The Moroccan national, 44, is also charged with murdering Terrence Carney and the attempted murder of Javed Nouri on 15 October.
No pleas were entered at the hearing at the Old Bailey on Friday.
Mr Alid, an asylum seeker, is accused of the attempted murder of Mr Nouri, who was found with stab wounds at a house in Wharton Terrace.
Mr Carney was discovered on a nearby street a short time later by police.
Mr Alid is further charged with two counts of "assault of an emergency worker by beating" relating to his alleged conduct during his police interview when questioned for "other offences".
He appeared via videolink from HMP Frankland in Durham and spoke to confirm his name via an Arabic interpreter.
Mr Alid was remanded into custody for a further hearing on 28 November.
A proposed trial date was set of 10 April 2024 at Teesside Crown Court, where it will be heard by a High Court judge.
