Part of major road on Teesside has reopened after a suspected explosive device was detonated by experts.
The A19 had been shut in both directions between the A689 near Billingham and the A179 near Hartlepool.
Cleveland Police said the object was examined at Elwick Services and then "disposed of in a controlled explosion on nearby farmland".
National Highways had warned there were long delays for motorists.
