The Duchess of Northumberland has laid the foundation stone for a new £70m emergency care hospital.

The Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington will serve people from Northumberland and North Tyneside.

Project director Birju Rana said it would be one of the first of its kind in the country to have consultants working seven days a week.

Teenagers involved in the design spoke to the Duchess during Friday's visit.
