County Durham young farmer in running for prestigious award
Ever since he was a child growing up and working on farms, Luke Conway could not find anything else that interested him the way farming does.
The 24-year-old's passion for regenerative farming and entrepreneurial ingenuity earned him a place on the shortlist for Farmer's Weekly Young Farmer of the Year.
Within five years he has reintroduced cattle to the family farmland near Seaham, County Durham, after 35 years of absence, having started the herd by buying himself two heifers.
He is working to revive disused land by planting food for wildlife, and is in the second year of a burgeoning pumpkin patch business.
"I think my favourite that brings me the most joy will be the cows, because they're like my like proper passion project," he said.
