Newcastle crowds welcome giant puppets parade
Hundreds of people gathered in Newcastle city centre to welcome a giant puppet parade.
Newcastle Puppetry Festival returned for its fifth year with a giant snow lion, spider and swallows roaming Northumberland Street.
A colourful City of Kittiwakes parade opened the 2024 festival, with more than 150 residents involved in celebrating the iconic seabird which nests under the Tyne Bridge.
Artists and volunteers spent two weeks preparing the puppets and other installations for the opening Kittiwake parade.
