Whitley house fire: Man arrested on suspicion of arson

A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life following a Wiltshire house fire.

The fire started in the middle of the night in a row of terraced houses on Eden Grove in Whitley, near Melksham.

Police evacuated three other houses in the street, with residents having to spend the night with family or friends. They were allowed back into their properties at 08:00 GMT.

Wiltshire Police said a 57-year-old man had been arrested.

He was taken to Melksham police station.

No one was injured in the fire.
