Police update on Swindon stabbing investigation

Police were called to Malmesbury Gardens in Swindon

Police say they are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry after a stabbing.

At around 18:50 on Thursday, officers responded to reports of a serious assault in Malmesbury Gardens, Swindon, during which a man's bike was stolen.

A man in his 20s was taken to hospital with knife injuries and has now been discharged.

Det Ch Insp Geoff Smith of Wiltshire Police said: "This is an unacceptable attack where the victim was subjected to a serious assault by two suspects.

"We treat incidents like this with the utmost seriousness and we are pursuing multiple lines of enquiry.

"A significant policing presence will remain in the area while we conduct our investigation.

"I'm aware of the concern incidents like this have on the local community, so if you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to speak to our officers.

A police cordon set up after the incident has now been lifted.
