A former retirement home near Marlborough is set to be demolished and replaced by 17 houses.

The vacant Seymour Court site is located in Burbage village in Wiltshire.

Aster Communities group manages more than 32,000 homes across Southern England and first submitted a planning application to the council in 2022.

Wiltshire Council said as it complied with the county's development plan it had given permission for the scheme.

Burbage Parish Council initially objected to the development in 2022 and Wiltshire Council received a further 40 objections about the potential impact on the surrounding area.

The original application, including parking and landscaping, stated the developer had "made a strong commitment to delivering a high-quality scheme on the site".

The BBC has approached the developer for comment.
