Overnight closure for A1 in North Yorkshire upgrade

A stretch of the A1 in North Yorkshire will be closed overnight as part of a £380m improvement programme.

The Highways Agency said the closure, from 20:00 BST, is part of the scheme to upgrade the 12 mile (19.3km) stretch to motorway standard.

The closure, until 06:00 on Sunday, will run northbound from junction 50 to Scotch Corner and southbound from Scotch Corner to junction 51.

The improvement scheme is due to be completed in 2016/17, the agency said.
