A man attacked emergency workers after being arrested on suspicion of burgling a home and a business in a village near York.
Police said they received a call from a resident in Nether Poppleton, just after 01:30 GMT on Wednesday, reporting two men were trying to steal his car.
Less than 10 minutes later, officers received another call about a business being broken into.
The suspects, 27 and 31, were arrested - but one of them kicked the officers.
North Yorkshire Police sent officers out after the first call from the householder reporting voices at the end of his drive and the sound of his garage door opening.
When he went outside, one of the men fled, but the other began threatening him.
Shortly afterwards, a business owner in the village contacted police and said he had been awoken by an intruder alarm on their phone. He was able to watch a suspect enter the premises via CCTV.
Officers were already heading towards Nether Poppleton and found and arrested the two suspects on suspicion of burglary.
One was further arrested on suspicion of assaulting two emergency workers, after he kicked two officers while under arrest.
The pair remain in custody, the force said.
Police also found an abandoned bicycle and several items of stock from the business nearby.
