Grammy award-winning artists Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars will perform at the MTV European Music Awards in Belfast on 6 November, organisers have confirmed.

They will join Coldplay, Jessie J and LMFAO at the Odyssey Arena ceremony.

Snow Patrol and Jason Derulo are set to take the stage at Belfast City Hall while Red Hot Chilli Peppers will play the Ulster Hall.

It is the first time the EMAs will be presented from three locations in the host city.

Lady Gaga, who has won five Grammy awards, has sold approximately 23 million albums and 64 million singles worldwide.

She came to prominence following the release of her 2008 debut studio album, The Fame, which included the hits "Just Dance", "Poker Face" and "Bad Romance".

Bruno Mars, whose real name is Peter Hernandez, won a Grammy earlier this year for best male pop vocal performance for his ballad "Just the Way You Are".

The Hawaii-born singer's debut album "Doo Waps & Hooligans" went to number one in the UK.

Lady Gaga is leading the European Music Award nominations, with nods in six different categories.

Katie Perry, Adele and Justin Bieber are also tipped to do well, although their appearances at the awards have not yet been confirmed.

There is also speculation about which A-list artists could appear at one of the many music events being staged by Belfast City Council, through the Belfast Music Week project.

It begins on 30 October. There will be 170 shows at more than 40 venues across the city with a finale on Saturday 5 November.
