A1 carriageway near Newry reopens after second crash
- Published
The A1 carriageway near Newry in County Down has reopened after being closed for a second successive day after another crash.
The closure was from Loughbrickland to the Sheepbridge roundabout.
It is understood a lorry struck a car and toppled over on to the southbound carriageway before shedding its load. The people involved are believed to have suffered minor injuries.
Shortly after 13:00 GMT police said the road was now open in both directions.
The lorry was pointing northbound, but was sitting on its side in the overtaking lane of the southbound carriageway.
Those travelling to Dublin Airport were advised to allow extra time for their journey.
The road was also closed on Wednesday afternoon after a two-vehicle collision at the nearby Camlough Road junction.
Two people were taken to hospital.
