Lord Ashdown on UK and west's role over Syria

Lord Ashdown said "we can't act even though we would like to" as he looked at what the UK and the west could do over Syria - compared to previous actions in Libya, Iraq and the Balkans.

The former Liberal Democrat leader spoke about the diplomatic moves needed for the west to win over Russia, which is allied to the current Syrian leadership, and said the outlook was "pretty gloomy and bleak".
