Universities lose 0% VAT rate for listed building work
The government has backtracked on several Budget measures but appears to be holding firm on making universities pay VAT on any alterations to their listed buildings for the first time.
Giles Dilnot spoke to Conservative MP Nadhim Zahawi and Janis Pich, the director of estates at the University of Reading, on the changes which will remove a 0% VAT rating for some building works, in an apparent simplification of tax rules.
