Police reforms: Nick Herbert on pay and conditions
Crime has "fallen substantially" under the coalition government and the police could not be exempted from the cuts other public services have faced, Conservative MP Nick Herbert said.
The former policing minister was responding to claims in a Daily Politics film, that reforms were pushing the service to a tipping point.
He said the reforms were "demanding" and the pay changes would affect officers' pay packets, but wanted to explain the reasons for changes.
