Bob Servant Independent writer Neil Forsyth on Galloway
The fictional character of Bob Servant who compares himself to Nelson Mandela and wants to be the next Broughty Ferry MP is not based on George Galloway, despite any perceived similarities says the creator.
Neil Forsyth, who wrote the BBC4 comedy, about a by-election in the Dundee suburb explained the character came back as a way of answering spam letters.
He told Jo Coburn there was no bigger fan of the Respect MP than himself, but there was no shortage of "moustached mavericks" in Dundee.
The six-part comedy stating Brian Cox runs on Wednesday nights at 22:00 and is on BBC iPlayer.
