Nigella and domestic abuse: Charlie Webster and Trisha Goddard

Domestic violence hit the headlines as it involved famous middle-class people in a posh restaurant, but the reaction would have been different for a working class couple, says broadcaster Trisha Goddard.

The British talk show host, now on US TV, said there were often mental health links to domestic abuse.

Sky Sports presenter Charlie Webster, a Women's Aid ambassador, said it was a "real prevalent issue", but refuges and helplines were under threat.

She said it was an issue for men and children too, as the pair spoke to Andrew Neil, Alan Johnson and Michael Portillo after pictures of Nigella Lawson appeared in newspapers, and her husband received a caution.
