Lord MacGregor on shale and fracking 'huge benefits'

The House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee has backed the government's commitment to shale gas, extracted using the process of fracking, but said progress was being held back by complex rules.

Chairman Lord MacGregor said there was a "real risk of energy insecurity" and the UK could lose out on the benefits that have been seen in the USA.

He told Jo Coburn on the Daily Politics there were "huge benefits" for the public, and it was good news for business and the environment.
