Ethnic minority voters: Paul Uppal and Seema Malhotra

The proportion of black and ethnic minorities (BME) voters is set to climb more rapidly in the UK than anywhere in Europe, and could be 40% of the total electorate within 25 years, said a former chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission.

Trevor Phillips debated how the British political parties were bidding to win the BME vote, and whether parties took their support for granted, with Conservative MP Paul Uppal and Labour MP Seema Malhotra.

They spoke to Jo Coburn, after they watched a Daily Politics film on the BME vote in Croydon, south London.
