Roy Hattersley: Birmingham MP and Labour deputy leader

Roy Hattersley was a councillor at the age of 23, an MP at 31, and a minister by the age of 33, who went on to become deputy leader of the Labour party.

Now Lord Hattersley, he told Jo Coburn about his time as a Birmingham MP, plus views on Tony Crosland, Roy Jenkins, Neil Kinnock, Tony Blair, John Smith, Gordon Brown and Ed Miliband.

In a Daily Politics film, he explained why he joined Labour, his role in shaping party policy, and why he never crossed to the SDP.
