BBC FOI request: 1992 civil servants plans for Kinnock
Civil Service plans for a Neil Kinnock-led government in 1992 have been revealed after a BBC Freedom of Information (FOI) request.
Whitehall staff were set to advise him to scrub up for formal occasions and pay up for Downing Street dinners and staff presents.
In Daily Politics film, Eleanor Garnier speaks to BBC FOI expert Martin Rosenbaum about the bid to get the documents.
They revealed how civil servants were getting ready for a Labour government, as the party headed towards election day with a poll lead.
But it lost to John Major, who became the most recent Conservative leader to win an overall majority at a UK general election.
