Cameron: EU and Nato roles give UK 'strength in numbers'

David Cameron tells the BBC's Laura Kuenssberg that he wants to set out "calmly and clearly" over the next 45 days what he has learned as prime minister about the European Union - arguing that it has helped bring former adversaries together.

Asked why he is holding a referendum if he thought leaving the EU would put the UK's security at risk, he replied: "When we've got the best of both worlds... then go for the strength in numbers that membership of the European Union and membership of Nato gives us."
