A minor landslip has occurred at the A83 Rest and Be Thankful route in Argyll.
After assessing the incident, contractor Bear Scotland said the carriageway would remain open, with traffic signals put in place.
A spokesman added: "We will continue to monitor the situation throughout the night and inspect the location in first light."
The road has been closed by landslips seven times in five years.
Last year, an emergency diversion route was opened along an old military road with the aim of preventing motorists being forced to undertake diversions of up to 50 miles.
