Police are trying to trace teenagers who caused damage to buildings on the new Inverness Campus site.

Northern Constabulary said the youths, thought to be aged between 13 and 14, drove dumper trucks into some of the completed buildings at the site.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) is investing £25m in preparing the Beechwood campus.

It will eventually provide a base for the University of the Highlands and Islands and local businesses.

Police were alerted to the trouble at 17.40 on Sunday.

The force said the damage was not thought to be expensive, but that there had been potential for a more serious incident.

Three of the teenagers responsible were described as wearing black hooded tops, while one was wearing a white hooded top.

They were later seen running towards Smithton in Inverness.
