Leading Scottish musicians will perform at one of the Highland's biggest arts festivals, which is under way.

The 10th Blas Festival will feature performances in 50 venues in the Highlands and Argyll.

The annual festival is held as a celebration of Highland and Gaelic life and culture.

This year's performers will include singer-songwriter Dougie Maclean, who played at Glasgow's Commonwealth Games closing ceremony, and the band Manran.

The final concert will take place in Inverness next Saturday - the day of shinty's Camanachd Cup final.

Four years ago, the festival was held amid concerns about future funding from Highland Council, one of its main sources of financial support.

The local authority continues to back the festival.

BBC Alba will screen selected events from Blas, produced by Bees Ness Media, later in the year.
