Aberdeen secondary schools plan made public
- Published
Aberdeen City Council has made public its short and long-term plans for secondary schooling in the area.
The short-term proposals include redefining the catchment areas of Aberdeen Grammar and Harlaw Academy.
They also suggest relocating Northfield Academy pupils to Hazlehead until proposals for a new school to replace Northfield can be implemented.
Councillors will meet on 28 October to decide on the options, which have already divided local opinion.
The initial proposals for the short-term also include maintaining the existing buildings at Oldmachar Academy, Bridge of Don Academy and Dyce, and replacing Torry Academy and Kincorth with a larger school.
Options for the longer-term include the retention of 12 secondaries by closing and merging some schools and building new ones.
They include the replacement of Hazlehead Academy, and a new school to accommodate pupils from Northfield Academy.
