A diver has died after an incident at Scapa Flow in Orkney.

The unresponsive 53-year-old man, who was believed to have been exploring a scuttled German wreck, was airlifted to Balfour Hospital in Kirkwall on Sunday.

Northern Constabulary said the man, who has not yet been named, was pronounced dead later that day.

A force spokesperson said: "A full report on the circumstances, which do not appear to be suspicious, has been submitted to the procurator fiscal."
